Statement regarding incoming student’s social post

By Jenna Johnson | May 27, 2022

Charleston Southern University Athletics and administration is aware of an incoming freshman student-athlete who shared a social media post with a racial slur. There is no circumstance in which any racist language is acceptable, especially as a representative of our Christian university. We condemn racism—through actions and words—in the strongest possible terms. After thorough review, CSU Athletics took appropriate steps to revoke the signed student’s athletic scholarship. The individual’s university admission has also been rescinded.

At a university founded on the belief that the gospel has the power to transform lives, it’s our mission to see our students, faculty, and staff live in a way reflective of the love of Christ.
