New student lounge opens Jan. 11
A new student lounge will open to the Charleston Southern University campus on Monday, January 11—just in time for the start of the spring semester. Located on the second floor of the Student Center, the recently renovated former Gold Room meeting space will feature booths, high top tables, couches, large screen TVs and a short-order grill.
Run by Aramark, The Buc Stop grill will be open 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. beginning Tuesday, Jan. 19. Menu items will be cooked to order and will feature foods such as burgers, sandwiches, fries and more. Students may use cash, dining dollars, or gold swipes from their all-access meal plan at the grill. Anyone with an all-access plan will have five gold swipes per week (one swipe per day) to use at Java City or The Buc Stop for a selection of entrees and meals.
The student lounge will be open 24/7 and will follow campus holidays and closures.
“We are excited to offer a space where residents and commuters can enjoy a meal or snack with friends, stay up late and watch TV, or have a small study group,” Rev. Clark Carter, vice president for student life and dean of students, said.
Per the university’s strategic plan, the Student Center has undergone several renovations in the last year. Students will also enjoy a new meeting space on the second floor, replacing the President’s Dining Room. The flex space will be available by reservation only.
