Mr. John Wilson was born and raised in Columbia, SC. He graduated from Midlands Technical College with an Associate degree in Business Management. He worked at Blue Cross Blue Shield of SC as a computer operator before pursuing a career in law enforcement. Wilson moved to the Charleston area to work as a probation and parole agent at the SC Department of Probation, Parole, and Community Services. While employed there, he decided to continue his education and enrolled at CSU. He graduated with a BT in Criminal Justice after completing the Fall semester of 1990. This was the first class to have Charleston Southern University on the degree. John then was hired at the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office as a deputy sheriff. John served there in many different roles until he retired in November 2014 to assume his role as Director of Security at CSU.

John is married and has two grown daughters and four grandchildren. He enjoys spending time with his family. He also enjoys fishing, boating, camping, and driving his classic 1965 Pontiac GTO. John is also a Board of Visitors member at CSU.
