Dr. Jacob Thorp serves as the Associate Director of the Physical Therapy Program. He joined CSU from East Carolina University where he was an Associate Professor in the Physical Therapy Department as well as the director of the clinical faculty practice. Thorp earned his Bachelor of Science from Trevecca Nazarene University in 1999, his Master of Science in Physical Therapy from Des Moines University in 2001, and a Doctor of Health Science from the University of Indianapolis in 2006. His research, teaching, and clinical expertise are in the areas of orthopedics and chronic pain. Thorp, and his wife, Michelle, have three children.

God has blessed me with the opportunity to create a Physical Therapy Department at Charleston Southern University. This is an incredible opportunity to incorporate my Christian values with being a physical therapist. I am very excited to teach our students the importance of professionalism in this service-oriented career.
