Stephen Tate is a visiting professor and alumni of the Hans A. Nielsen College of Business at Charleston Southern University.
Before returning to his alma mater, Stephen served in the United States Navy for 10 years as a nuclear reactor operator in submarines. He would later enter the financial sector as a tax associate with Dixon Hughes Goodman, as well as a Senior Tax Accountant in the private sector. In 2023, Stephen was called to teach accounting and data analytics at CSU.
His love for accounting and mentoring students led him to be a co-founder of CSU’s first accounting day for students. This provided CSU accounting and finance students with a platform to be recruited by national firms. He is also a co-founder of the first Accounting Society on CSU’s campus.
Stephen’s vision is to pour into current and future students who resonate with accounting, equipping them with innovative learning in preparation for an ever-evolving financial world. He also seeks to serve and develop resources for our veteran students for their overall academic and career success while they are a part of our community at CSU.
Your Purpose. Our Mission.
As an accounting professor, I have the privilege and responsibility to teach you how to steward the resources that God has entrusted to you. But I also want to remind you that no one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money (Matthew 6:24).

May God grant you wisdom and discernment in your studies and in your future endeavors, and may you always seek His will and His ways. Amen.
