Boyce Smith serves as an assistant professor of business for the Hans A. Nielsen College of Business and the co-founding director of the Center for Personal Financial Management.

He received a Bachelor of Science in economics and a Master of Arts in economics from the University of South Carolina and completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.

Smith has over 35 years of management experience as an officer in the US Coast Guard and various global management roles at Milliken & Company, winner of the Malcolm Baldridge National Quality Award, the British Quality Award, and the European Quality Award.
Smith was a corporate officer and member of the Milliken Policy Committee for over 15 years. His experience in management was mainly focused on the areas of operations management.

He has more than 30 years of experience as a volunteer in the financial coaching of families through CSU, churches, and other ministries. He has been taught and mentored by Larry Burkett, Ron Blue, Howard Dayton, and others in coaching people to manage God’s money according to Biblical principles. He teaches in the areas of finance, economics, and management. His emphasis is on helping as many students as possible learn to manage money God’s way.

Smith works with several non-profit organizations to improve the faith-based financial literacy of our local community and college students throughout the country.

He has been married to his wife, Barbara, for over 45 years. They have 2 children and 6 grandchildren who all live in the Charleston area. He is a member of James Island Baptist Church.
