Shala was born and raised here in Charleston, and graduated from Charleston Southern University with a B.A. in Music and Worship Leadership in 2015. She went on to earn her M.A. in Christian Ministry with an emphasis on Worship from Liberty University in 2016. She has had the privilege of leading worship at several churches in the Lowcountry, while also working in administrative roles in local businesses.

I have always had a desire to work at Charleston Southern. I had a wonderful experience as a student - I was guided, lovingly critiqued, and driven to grow intellectually and spiritually. CSU feels like home, and I'm happy to be back serving and aiding others in pursuing their dreams and passions.
