Shallon T. Mims, director of the Career Center, joined CSU in 2018 as a career services advisor. She helps students by preparing them for life beyond academia by guiding them on proper resume formatting, editing suggestions, providing feedback for cover letters and graduate school essays, and with refining their interview skills by conducting mock interviews. As director, Mims supervises all areas of the Career Center, including event planning and preparation, classroom presentations, and daily operations.
Mims also coordinates the Federal Off-Campus Work-Study program in conjunction with the CSU Student Employment office by helping to pair eligible work-study students with non-profit organizations in the community. Mims is a proud graduate of Armstrong State University (now Georgia Southern University) where she received a Bachelor of Arts in history and a Master of Education in curriculum and instruction. Before joining Charleston Southern, she served as a customer service and training manager for a major U.S. retailer and as a graduate assistant for ASU Student Affairs.
Your Purpose. Our Mission.
After working for several years as a hiring manager, I saw a need to help prepare college students for the working world. I chose Charleston Southern University because of its status as a Christian university, and I believe that every student was created with and given a purpose. I enjoy helping students to discover their purpose and am grateful that CSU is the type of school where I can show the love of Jesus to every student I encounter and encourage them to work with excellence.
