CSU extends qualifications for Minister’s Dependent Scholarship

By Jan Joslin | December 4, 2024

Charleston Southern University has extended the Minister’s Dependent Scholarship to include dependents of all ministers affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention, no matter where they serve in the world.

Missionary dependents of North American Mission Board and International Mission Board missionaries are now eligible also. Previously, the $1,000 per year scholarship was available to dependents of South Carolina-based ministers.

Dr. Tony Turner, vice president of enrollment management, said, “We are excited to extend Charleston Southern’s Minister’s Dependent Scholarship outside the state of South Carolina to ministers on staff at any Southern Baptist Convention church. CSU desires to be a Southern Baptist Convention university for South Carolina residents and all those serving SBC churches across the nation.”

Turner said, “It is Charleston Southern University’s desire to be a preferred college for all those who are part of the Southern Baptist Convention churches.”

Incoming freshmen whose parent serves on staff at an SBC church will receive a $1,000 scholarship each year for a potential total of $4,000 over their college career. For more information about scholarships at Charleston Southern University, visit charlestonsouthern.edu/admissions/financial-aid/.
