Event
Nursing Pinning
Since 1860, when Florence Nightingale was awarded the Red Cross of St. George for her selfless service to the injured and dying during the Crimean (“Cry-me-un”) War, pinning ceremonies have come to represent the momentous rite of passage from student to practitioner. Each graduate receives a school pin that is worn proudly after graduation at work when the graduate now becomes a registered nurse. Each nursing program has a special, individualized pin that symbolizes the essence of the university, college, and nursing program.
