Your spiritual growth opportunities at CSU
Charleston Southern University offers plenty of opportunities for spiritual growth. Spiritual growth is found at the core of CSU as is stated in our Founding Principle of Matthew 28:19-20, “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.”
There are student ministry options that allow all different tastes to find a place to worship. Worshiping through song and word can be found at Elevate that meets on Thursdays at 8 p.m. in the Chapel and is a fun way to praise the Lord with friends.
It could also mean learning through music since CSU offers a degree in Music and Worship Leadership which allows the musicians learn theological practices for their worship journey.
CSU requires all undergraduates take two survey courses to study the Bible: Survey of the Old Testament, and Survey of the New Testament. They are offered every semester and are taught by different professors. The catalog shows more courses within the Christian Studies program that students can take and the required ones for minors and majors in the field.
CSU Campus Ministries includes many options such as the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, or for women, the Render Women’s Ministry and CRU Campus Crusade for Christ, the Ratio Christi and the Charleston Wesley Foundation and One Accord Gospel Choir and Praise Dance Team.
CSU is in touch with the community and is involved in many events with affiliates like the South Carolina Baptist Convention and the North American Mission Board.
Integrating faith in learning and discovering God’s purpose for your life are good ways to summarize the important themes; go find your purpose!
