COVID-19 Update from the President

As we embark on another week of on-campus activities, we continue to be tremendously blessed by impressively low numbers of COVID cases and close contacts on campus, and we are so thankful to everyone in our campus community who continues to partner with the University Pandemic Task Force by adhering to the policies and procedures that are helping to keep our campus safe and healthy! In addition to sharing this week’s COVID-19 numbers, I just have a few brief announcements:  

Our Numbers

Here are our numbers as of October 14, 2020: 

• TOTAL NUMBER OF STUDENTS IN ISOLATION: 9 
  Of these 9 students, 4 are confirmed positive. 
  Of these 9 students, 1 resides on campus, 8 reside off campus. 

• TOTAL NUMBER OF STUDENTS IN QUARANTINE: 13
  Of these 13 students, 2 reside on campus, 11 reside off campus. 

• TOTAL NUMBER OF EMPLOYEES IN ISOLATION: 2 (both confirmed positive)
  
• TOTAL NUMBER OF EMPLOYEES IN QUARANTINE: 5

As a reminder, ISOLATION is reserved for actively symptomatic or known positive cases, and QUARANTINE is reserved for those who have been identified as a close contact of someone who is positive or who has symptoms. People in QUARANTINE are NOT ill – we are simply watching them to ensure they do not become symptomatic.  

Flu Shots

This week, we identified our first campus case of the flu, which means flu season is upon us. If you have not done so already, please get your flu shot. This will help keep you and our campus community safe. As a reminder, Fetter Health Care is on campus today from 8:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Russell Horseshoe and will have flu shots available during that time. 

Student Feedback Opportunity

We are looking for student feedback as we make plans for the spring semester. Thank you to those of you who have already completed the survey. If you have not done so already, please take a few minutes to complete the survey. It will remain open until 5 p.m. today. We look forward to reading both your observations and your recommended solutions and will present the data we collect to the campus community in the coming weeks.
