Dr. Emory Hiott graduated with her B.S. in Technical Marketing from Clemson University, an MBA from Charleston Southern University, and a DBA in Marketing from Gardner -Webb University. Dr. Hiott has worked in both the corporate and non-profit worlds before joining CSU full-time. She brings a wealth of knowledge from these past experiences as well as a network that has been beneficial to many students. Her key research areas include: Artificial Intelligence, Consumer Behavior, and Digital Marketing.

Dr. Hiott resides in Charleston with her husband, two sons, and their dog, Poogan. As a family they attend First Baptist Church of Charleston where Dr. Hiott is a Deacon. In their free time they enjoy boating, biking, and the beaches of the Lowcountry.
