Dr. Vicki Ball is Dean of the College of Nursing, overseeing the ABSN, BSN, and MSN programs. She is a registered nurse and certified nurse educator with a clinical background in medical-surgical patient care and nursing leadership. A United States Air Force veteran, she served as a nurse officer for 23 years in various clinical and administrative nursing leadership positions prior to her retirement as a Lieutenant Colonel. She began her second career as a nurse educator in 2010. Ball earned a Doctor of Education with a concentration in Educational Leadership from Liberty University in 2017. She earned a Master of Science in Nursing from Florida State University in 1997 and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Clemson University in 1987. She currently teaches leadership and management in professional nursing in both the undergraduate and graduate programs. Her research interests include the use of escape room technology in education, the lived experiences of nurse educators with prior military careers, simulation in nursing education, and health policy advocacy. She is a member of the National League for Nursing, Nurses Christian Fellowship, and Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society. Ball serves as an Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing Peer Evaluator and Evaluation Review Panel Member. She is a member of First Baptist Church of Charleston where she serves on the Safety Committee and as a children’s AWANA leader.
