Prof. Hixon teaches Fundamentals of Writing and Mechanics, Composition and Rhetoric, and Composition with Introduction to Literature. She studied English and Psychology at Charleston Southern University and earned her MA in English at Clemson University. Her research interests include Southern Literature, Contemporary American Literature, and ecocriticism. When she’s not on campus, she enjoys reading (of course!), particularly in the mystery genre, hiking, visiting the beach, and playing with her dog, Heidi.

When I was earning my BA at CSU, I was continually blessed by the encouragement I received from my professors and the obvious love they had for their students. Even when I began a course anticipating that I would feel bored and lost, the professors' enthusiasm for their subject matter and for teaching made me want to learn. It didn't take long to realize that love came from Christ, and I grew in my faith not only by going to Chapel but also by going to class. When I got the opportunity to come back to CSU as a teacher, it felt like coming home. I'm blessed to be able to worship with my students and to learn from amazing opportunities like our faculty Bible study. I drive to work every day knowing I'm where I'm meant to be.
