Severe Weather Announcement – CSU pivots to Online Learning for Tuesday

In anticipation of severe weather tomorrow, January 9, Charleston Southern University will close campus and shift all classes to online learning. Students scheduled to attend in-person classes should log into Blackboard for further instruction. Though all on-campus, in-person events are cancelled, dining services will remain available for residents. Follow the Dining Services Instagram for updates on locations and hours.

With the exception of essential personnel and the dining hall, all offices and buildings will be closed on Tuesday. Employees should discuss remote work options with their supervisor.

CSU will resume normal operations on Wednesday, January 10.

Severe weather is expected to impact parts of the South Carolina Lowcountry on Tuesday, bringing thunderstorms, coastal flooding, strong winds, and high surf conditions. The forecast includes 25 to 35 mph winds with possible gusts up to 60 mph. The National Weather Service issued a high wind watch for Charleston and Tidal Berkeley Counties from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. tomorrow. A wind advisory is also in effect for Dorchester and inland Berkeley Counties, among others. Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines, so power outages are possible. Travel could be difficult, especially on elevated bridges.
