Starting your path in advanced biology
The Master of Science in biology program provides an advanced understanding of the knowledge of biological theory, lab techniques and experimental design and is structured so that it can be completed in a one-year process.
This nonthesis master’s degree is appropriate for people in careers that value individuals having advanced technical and conceptual training in biology including clinical doctorate programs (e.g., medicine, dentistry and physical therapy), positions in management and policy, and educational appointment at the primary, secondary or community college levels. The coursework provides a foundation in graduate-level knowledge of biological theory, lab techniques and experimental design and includes the unique opportunity to take a human anatomy course with a cadaver lab component at the master’s level.
The one-year design to this program is especially appealing to students, whether they are using this degree opportunity as a steppingstone to future educational opportunities or working toward an advancement in their current field. With our small class sizes, the student’s access to their professors and their knowledge is an especially appealing quality. The biology faculty and curriculum emphasize the core values of honesty and integrity intertwined with the principles of Christianity on which CSU was founded.

Facilities
The building houses chemistry, biology and research labs, faculty offices and classrooms. A greenhouse is located adjacent to the science building. The greenhouse contains more than 50 different varieties of orchids: both hybrids and species. There is also a bog garden with more than 30 different species of carnivorous plants.
The master’s in biology classes are challenging but enjoyable; the campus is quaint but vibrant, and the instructors are knowledgeable and understanding. I love how friendly and willing to help all the staff members are and how welcomed I have always felt.
