S.C. opens vaccination to all aged 16 and older

By Jenna Johnson | March 29, 2021

Beginning March 31, all South Carolinians aged 16 and older will be eligible to make COVID-19 vaccination appointments. Currently, Pfizer is the only vaccine available to teens 16 to 18 years old. All three vaccines—Pfizer, Moderna, and Janssen—are available to all adults.

Students, faculty, and staff who would like to make an appointment may use scdhec.gov/vaxlocator, call DHEC’s COVID-19 Vaccine Information Line at 1-866-365-8110, or look up appointments at local pharmacies such as CVS, Walgreens, and Wal-Mart.

According to DHEC, a total of 1,818,939 doses have been administered in the state of South Carolina. Approximately 15% of the state’s population is fully vaccinated as of March 26, 2021. For additional information about vaccines, check out www.charlestonsouthern.edu/bucsafe/resources
