COVID-19 Update from the President

By CSU Media | March 3, 2021

After a taste of the spring weather a few days ago, we anxiously await the coming weeks as the chilly air (and pollen) gives way to warmer temperatures and time outdoors. Most of you are in midterm mode right now. Remember to take care of yourself mentally, physically, and spiritually: pace your study sessions, eat well, get your beauty rest, and pray extra hard. Have no fear, Buccaneer. You’ve got this because God’s got you in the palm of His hand. We’re almost there!

As we make our way to the first of May, continue to stay BUCSAFE!

Our Numbers

Here are our numbers as of March 3, 2021:

  • TOTAL NUMBER OF STUDENTS IN ISOLATION: 10
Of these 10 students, 2 reside on campus, 8 reside off campus, and 6 are confirmed positive.
  • TOTAL NUMBER OF STUDENTS IN QUARANTINE: 38
Of these 38 students, 13 resides on campus, 25 reside off campus.
  • TOTAL NUMBER OF EMPLOYEES IN ISOLATION: 3 (3 confirmed positive)
  • TOTAL NUMBER OF EMPLOYEES IN QUARANTINE: 4

As a reminder, ISOLATION is reserved for actively symptomatic or known positive cases, and QUARANTINE is reserved for those who have been identified as a close contact of someone who is positive or who has symptoms. People in QUARANTINE are NOT ill – we are simply watching them to ensure they do not become symptomatic.

Graduation

As a reminder, two ceremonies are planned for April 30th and May 1st on CSU’s campus at Buccaneer Field. For the benefit of our students and families, this will be a ticketed event and we expect to limit capacity to no more than two guests per graduate. Look out for more information in the coming weeks.

Student Life

Good things come to those who are patient and BUCSAFE. Because our campus has lowered isolation and quarantine numbers, we are gradually increasing on-campus events. Woo hoo!

Elevate will be back IN-PERSON tomorrow night in Lightsey Chapel! Doors open at 7:40. REGISTER HERE. Don’t forget your LiveSafe green checkmark and your mask. You may also tune in on Facebook Live here at 8 p.m. For more events, check out the BucNation App calendar.

Stay #BUCSAFE

COVID-19 and seasonal allergies cause many of the same signs and symptoms. There are some distinguishing characteristics, however. Allergies do NOT cause fever or muscle aches, and itchiness is not associated with COVID-19. If you are unsure, please speak with your healthcare provider and reach out to covid19@csuniv.edu for guidance. Remember, you can always reach out to the University Pandemic Task Force with questions or concerns. This email address is monitored Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Any emails received after 5 p.m. on Friday will be addressed on Monday.

Stay safe, stay focused, stay healthy, and stay faithful to the Lord and His provision as we work together to continue enjoying a healthy CSU! As always, let’s spread the Word, not the virus.
