MSN Tracks

The MSN in nursing education is an online faith-based graduate nursing program that prepares nurses to serve in the faculty/nurse educator roles within the health care setting.

This program runs as an online cohort model with 10 5-week classes in a 12 month period, allowing completion of the program in 16 months.

The curriculum prepares graduates to develop and evaluate curriculum and to effectively implement innovative teaching strategies using multiple learning formats while emphasizing the spiritual, ethical and moral dimensions of the art of nursing. The MSN in nursing education prepares nurses to teach at a faculty level in nursing programs as well as to accept educator positions within hospital and clinic settings.

The MSN in nursing leadership and healthcare administration emphasis is a fully online faith-based graduate nursing program that prepares nurses to serve in the  leadership and administrative roles within health care settings. The curriculum uses diverse leadership and organizational theories as a foundation, and is designed to provide the participant with advanced problem-solving skills to address issues in modern healthcare. Focus will be on new models of leadership, strategic planning, program development and management, financial management, evidence based healthcare delivery and change project design and implementation.

The curriculum prepares graduates for leadership and educator positions, emphasizing the spiritual, ethical, and moral dimensions of the art of nursing.


Post-Master’s Certificate

The Post-Master’s Certificate in nursing education program at Charleston Southern University’s College of Nursing and Allied Health provides opportunities for students who already have a master’s degree in nursing to gain specialized knowledge within the nursing education specialty area. The program is open to registered nurses who possess a master’s degree from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing school. Students have two options to complete the certificate program: one with a Practicum course and one without a Practicum course. Students completing one of these two programs of study will be awarded a Post-Master’s Certificate in Nursing Education.

Program Completion = # of students who completed the program option on time. Full-time on time completion = 4 semesters. Part-time on time completion = 7 semesters.

Note: Completion rates may be affected by students who elect to delay course enrollment due to financial, work, or personal concerns. While data is collected based upon the number of students who complete the program within the designated program length, students may complete the program within a maximum of 6 years.
